Old-fashioned wilted lettuce
salad tossed in a warm, sweet and tangy cider vinegar dressing
with onion and bacon. A perfect example that good taste never
goes out of style!
Wilted
Lettuce Salad
- 4 cups of romaine lettuce,
washed, dried thoroughly and torn to bite size
- 4 green onions, chopped
- 4 slices smoked bacon,
chopped
- 4 tablespoons apple cider
vinegar
- 4 teaspoons granulated
sugar or brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or
to taste
- Freshly ground pepper
to taste
- Place lettuce and onions
in large serving bowl.
- In medium skillet, fry
diced bacon until crisp. Do not
drain grease. Add the vinegar, brown sugar, salt and pepper to mixture in skillet.
Bring to a boil and cook
30 seconds. Immediately
pour over lettuce and onions. Toss well and serve.
Serves 4 to 6.
