A tasty and easy way to serve burgers without the fuss of 'assorted toppings and condiments'. Ground beef patties, mixed with chopped onion and barbecue sauce, are topped with a creamy mixture of cottage cheese and shredded fresh veggies.

Grilled Burgers with Creamy Veggie Topping

1 pound ground beef
2 tablespoons chopped onion
2 tablespoons barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons cold water
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
4 slices Italian bread, toasted
8 slices tomato
1 cup small curd cottage cheese
1/4 cup shredded carrot
1/4 cup shredded zucchini
2 tablespoons finely chopped radishes
Salt and cracked black pepper to taste
  1. Combine beef, onion, barbecue sauce, water and garlic salt; mix well. Shape into four 5-inch oval patties. Grill or broil patties to desired doneness.
  2. While burgers cook, combine cottage cheese, carrot, zucchini, radish salt and pepper.
  3. Top each bread slice with two tomato slices, burger and 1/3 cup cheese mixture.

Makes 4 servings.
