Cocktail Sauce Picante
Lemon juice and hot pepper sauce are the key ingredients in any cocktail sauce. This one, so simple yet classic, is also dressed with a sprinkling of fresh cilantro.
1 cup tomato ketchup
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
1 teaspoon chopped fresh cilantro leaves
- In a small bowl, mix together ketchup, lemon juice and hot pepper sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve, topped with cilantro if desired, as an accompaniment to cold boiled shrimp. The sauce will keep for 1 week refrigerated.
Makes about 1 cup.
