Smother your next piece of bread with this delicious homemade jam; also great for gift giving! Submitted by: Jillian Penge from Gurnee, Illinois

Homemade Berry Jam

4 cups fresh or frozen strawberries, slightly mashed
2 1/2 tablespoons powdered fruit pectin
3 cups granulated sugar
  1. In 2-quart saucepan combine strawberries and pectin. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a full boil (10 to 15 minutes).
  2. Stir in sugar. Continue cooking, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to another full boil (3 to 5 minutes). Boil 1 minute.
  3. Remove from heat; with large metal spoon skim foam from top. Pour jam into hot sterilized jars. Store refrigerated.

Makes 5 to 6 pints.
