For an easy, elegant gift, place sugar in a glass jar and decorate with ribbons. For an extra special touch, tie on a cinnamon stick or vanilla bean.

Vanilla Sugar

2 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1. Blend the sugar and extract in a bowl, then spread it on a tray lined with waxed paper and let dry for about 6 hours. Press out any lumps with a wooden spoon and store in an air-tight container.

Makes 2 cups.
