Quick and easy, this hearty chili is ready to serve in just 30 minutes!

Easy Black Bean Chili

Chili:
2 pounds lean ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
2 teaspoons garlic, finely chopped
1 teaspoon kosher or sea salt
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
2 (15-ounce) cans black beans, rinsed and drained
1 (14-ounce) can ready-diced tomatoes with juice
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 (4-ounce) can diced mild green chiles
1 teaspoon ground cumin

Suggested Accompaniments:
Sour cream
Shredded cheddar cheese
Chopped fresh cilantro
  1. In large saucepan, brown ground beef over medium high heat until done; drain excess fat. Stir in onions and garlic and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until onions are soft and lightly browned, 3 to 4 minutes.
  2. Add beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, chilies and cumin, bring to a boil and continue cooking for 20 to 30 minutes for flavors to blend.
  3. Ladle hot chili into individual serving bowls and top with accompaniments, if desired.
